DJ EXTENSIVE PACKAGE![]() This 20- week course was designed for those who really want to experience the techniques of today's DJ's. It covers Tracks 1 - 5 (see detailed descriptions below) and includes an additional Ableton Live weekend workshop ($295 value). Students who successfully complete this course will be given the opportunity to play their first gig at a New York City venue with other graduates! DJ BEGINNER PACKAGE![]() This is our most popular program for anyone wondering if this is actually something they want to do. Take tracks 01 & 02 consecutively and walk away with the skills needed to blend & mix your songs. Students who complete this package will know how to "drop on the one" and be able to "beat match."
TRACK 01- ROOKIE SESSIONS | BASIC DJ COURSE![]() You will learn the basic mechanics of mixing & scratching and at the same time be introduced to the equipment used in a standard DJ setup as well as Serato Scratch Live. By the end of the four weeks you will have a basic working knowledge of music theory. Your final assignment - to perform your 1st live mix for your class. This track is also available as a 2-Day Weekend-intensive Workshop.
TRACK 02- FUN-DAMENTALS | INTERMEDIATE DJ COURSE![]() Emphasis on the "workflow of the DJ" - getting you prepared in how it actually feels to DJ out by tapping into your inner sense of rhythm & timing. We help you hone your fundamental mixing skills, and introduce more Serato techniques - including Relative mode, setting up cue points, crate creation, and importing of your own songs. Final Assignment - Perform a 3 song mix. TRACK 03- FINISHING TOUCHES | INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED COURSE![]() Intended for DJ's looking to refine their skills. Here we help you prepare your set by using group practice techniques, introducing the aspects of improvisation and time constraints, proper volume control, and EQing, and creating smooth transitions. We also essentially emulate the real DJ experience. Final Assignment - Create a 15 minute mix to be recorded in Track 04. TRACK 04- CLASSROOM TO MAINROOM![]() Intro to other technologies such as the industry standard CDJ-1000's and Ableton Live. Also learn how to read a room and understand crowd psychology - getting the party started. Advanced mixing tips & tricks, adding effects, and cross-genre mixing are also emphasized. Final assignment - record your own mixed CD that may be used as a demo. TRACK 5A- Club DJ Masterclass![]() Take an advanced look at adding effects like pitch-shift, rhythmic echo, and filters with an eye for building your own custom loops and DJ tools. Work on extended blends, sculpting transitions with EQ, and using multiple decks. Incorporate harmonic mixing and develop the skills to record, master and prepare your mix into an indexed CD for public consumption. Examine the final stages of a DJ mix from a highly technical aspect as well as ways to market it online and real-talk about the world of professional DJing, booking agents, etc. TRACK 5B- Turntablism![]() Learn an insider's secrets on the art of turntable-as-instrument. Examine the foundations of hiphop "battle" DJing: scratches, cuts, transforms, creative FX use, and beat-juggling. Learn about avant-garde techniques and the challenge of playing decks with a band or vocalist. Final assignment: composition and in-class performance of a 5-minute DJ routine. |
