- 1) Do you offer payment plans?
- Yes. Prices listed are "Paid in Full" prices. Payments may be made in 3 Installments at a premium. For example: the EMP Full Course Package is $2995 if "paid in full" prior to the start of class. Our Payment plan entails 3 installments of $1095 - the total is $3,285. So you save 10% or about $300 by paying up-front.
- 2) How do I enroll and pay for classes?

- A) Online -- After selecting DJ or Music Production under the "course" subheading on the website, just click on the "Enroll" link to view the various course start dates and payment options.
- B) Phone -- Call 212-242-2100 to enroll with a representative, using a major credit card. You may also mail a check, made out to "DS14 Inc."
- C) In Person - You can come in any time during business hours to pay by credit card, check, or cash.
- We recommend enrolling at least one month prior to the start of class, as classes
tend to fill up closer to the start date.
"Early Registration Incentive" Receive a 10% discount on any class if you enroll at least 2 months prior to start date.
- 3) How much prior experience do I need to take a DJ class?
- Track 01- Rookie Sessions of the DJ program starts at the beginner level, so no prior experience is required. By enrolling in the full DJ program (DJ Extensive Package), you will be working towards ultimately recording your very own DJ demo using Rane's Serato Scratch Live program. We also encourage experienced DJ's and producers to start at track one of the DJ course, in order to make the transition to Rane's Serato Scratch Live. If you have any concern about your placement in the DJ program, we invite you to meet with our instructors, so that they may assess your skill level and place you in the appropriate track.
4) How much prior experience do I need to take the full Electronic Music Production (EMP) class?
- No prior experience is required to enroll in the EMP program, as we begin with the basics of music theory, song structure, audio recording, MIDI sequencing, and mixing.* Again, similar to the DJ Program, we encourage even experienced producers to enroll in the full music production package (EMP full Course package), as we will be providing instruction in the latest versions of the most cutting-edge technologies offered by Propellerheads (Reason 4) , Ableton (Live 7) , and Apple (Logic 8).
- 5) What are the advantages of taking the full Electronic Music Production (EMP) course vs. the Weekend Workshops?
- The Weekend Workshops are simply designed to provide an overview of a specific software program. On the contrary, the goal of the full EMP program is to create original tracks - from drum programming to arrangement to effects to finally mastering. Students are also taught remixing, digital DJing, film scoring, and finally getting your tracks heard.
- 6) Can I visit Dubspot to take a look at the school's facilities?
- We provide an "open house" every Sunday, from 11-1 P.M. Not only will you be able to test out one of our student stations, but you will also have the opportunity to ask our instructors more in-depth questions about our programs.
- 7) How long are the courses?
- Each DJ track meets once per week for four weeks; thus, the full DJ Package (four tracks) is a sixteen-week program. The Music Production program either runs for three months (meeting twice per week) or six months (meeting once per week).
*Each DJ class meets for roughly two hours, while each music production class lasts three hours.
- 8) Does Dubspot offer additional "practice / lab" time to work on DJ or Music Production related coursework?
- We offer at least three hours of lab per day at no additional cost.
- 9) What happens if I miss a class?
- You can always catch up on all of the material you missed during lab hours.
- 10) Do you offer gift certificates?
- Yes, our gift certificates can be purchased online or at the DubSpot studio.
